OrchestraOne Music Director Eric Mahl teams up with Third Street Music School to celebrate Third Street’s 125th anniversary and explore the amazing diversity of the LES through the music that surrounded the school and the neighborhood throughout important moments in their development. It speaks to the importance of diversity in music and the world, and the ability of music to bring cultures together, through Third Street and OrchestraOne’s mission and vision.
The event will be free, open, inclusive and interactive, geared not just towards Third Street Faculty and students, but Lower East Side Residence, New York City composers and musicians, and community members as well. Eric Mahl will lead interesting conversations with the audience, through music and history, about the inter-connectedness of Third Street Music School, the Lower East Side, local Immigrant culture, music, and community. The music being written during particular periods throughout history will help facilitate and spur these conversations
As are all OrchestraOne’s community-based events, this event is FREE and open to the public. If you are able, please consider making a 10-20 dollar donation to help us keep our concerts and activities as inclusive as possible. Thank you!
